Of hollow promises & claims laid bare
CHANDIGARH: Every year student organizations come up with many promises and tall claims to register a win in Panjab University Campus Student Council (PUCSC) elections. However, how many are fulfilled are romping home to victory is a fact students are unaware about. TOI went through the list of promises PUCSC made in 2010 and what exactly was fulfilled.
1x1 polls

Last year, Panjab University Student Union (PUSU) INSO alliance won PUCSC elections with Gurindervir Singh Aulakh (PUSU) elected as the president in the campus. The manifesto prepared by PUSU, while contesting the elections in 2010, included various issues. While few were fulfilled, many remained on the paper only.
The same scenario happened in 2009 elections that were won by Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU) however they had also failed to fulfil many promises. Some of the major agendas on which they won the selection, however failed to fulfil, were nomination of all the four office bearers of Students' Council to the university senate, to ensure students representation in decision making, facility of cyber cafe at student centre, cafeterias in all departments, timely payment of stipends to research scholars, upgradation of syllabus and VC's Open Darbar for students.
